Connect your bank or Amex
Connect any business bank card or American Express through Plaid so Matched reads each posted charge on its own.
Most crews pay with a bank card or Amex, not a spend platform. Matched can read those cards through Plaid, the service many finance apps use to connect to banks. Matched only reads. It can't move money, and it never sees your bank password.
Only an owner can connect a bank. If you don't see Your bank or Amex in setup, it isn't open for your company yet: upload a statement instead.
Connect your bank or Amex
- In setup, at Connect your cards, pick Your bank or Amex. After setup, open Settings and, under Connections, select Connect your bank or Amex.
- Select Connect your bank or Amex. Plaid opens.
- Find your bank or American Express, sign in, and pick the business cards Matched should read. Some banks send you to their own site to approve Matched, then back.
- Matched reads the charges your bank has so far. The rest arrive over the next few minutes.
Each card shows up as its bank and last digits, for example "Amex ending 1005". To connect a second bank, select Connect another bank or Amex.
What Matched reads
- Posted charges only: the date, merchant, amount, and which card. A charge still pending at the bank shows up once it posts.
- Refunds show as negative charges.
- Payments to the card and transfers are left out. They aren't spending.
Every charge lands on Charges with the rest, labelled with its card. If someone on your team already entered it in Jobber as an expense, Matched pairs them and shows In Jobber, entered by a tech, so nothing goes in twice. For the rest, Matched suggests the job from who was clocked in where. Charges from a bank card go to Jobber one at a time, when you select Send to Jobber, never by Send all Highs to Jobber or auto-accept.
Each card's month appears under Charges, then Statements, as "Amex ending 1005, September 2026". Check it and select Close the month the same way as an uploaded statement. See Reconcile a card statement.
Pick which cards count
- Open Settings.
- Under Connections, below your bank, open Cards that count and tick the cards.
- Select Save cards.
Charges already read stay. New charges come only from the cards you ticked.
Reconnect your bank
Banks ask you to sign in again from time to time. When that happens, Settings shows Needs reconnecting under Connections, with why (for example, your bank's permission ends within 7 days). You can also reconnect any time, even when it says Connected.
- Open Settings.
- Under Connections, select Reconnect next to that bank (for example, Reconnect American Express).
- Sign in to your bank in Plaid.
It is the same connection, signed in again: your cards, charges and matches are all still there, and Matched catches up on anything it missed.
If Settings shows Disconnected for a bank, access was withdrawn at your bank or through Plaid. Disconnect that bank, then connect it again.
Disconnect a bank
- Open Settings.
- Under Connections, open Disconnect followed by the bank's name.
- Tick I want to disconnect, then select Disconnect and the bank's name.
Matched stops reading that bank and deletes its access. Charges already read, and anything already in Jobber, stay.
Upload a statement instead
If Plaid can't reach your bank, or you'd rather not connect it, Upload a statement instead from Charges, then Statements, once a month.
